Earlier this year, Ismail who is 29 years of age feared he would not be able to continue his education in order to receive his M.D. Struggling to improve his reading and listening skills in time enough, Ismail had a set requirement to score at least 80 on the TOEFL iBT to enter his university master’s program; however, Ismail felt his language in English needed to be strongly improved on, especially with regards to his reading and listening abilities. Although Ismail read many books such as Longman’s or Barron’s preparatory TOEFL iBT manuals, he could still not get a good score on the exam. Ismail’s most recent score is 76 with: R-17, L-18, S-20, and W-21. Only 4 points away from meeting his target score, Ismail reluctantly joined Michael’s Online TOEFL Course: “The 7 step system to Pass the TOEFL iBT.”
Ismail’s early comments to Michael were as follows:
“Michael please let me know how you can help me.
I took my Toefl test this month, but i didn’t get good score. My last score is 76 with: R-17, L-18, S-20, and W-21.
I tried many books like longman & barron’s but the problem is when i practice in this book and calculate my score on
reading and listening i got good score and when i go to the real test the reading is so hard for me and i perform poorly.
Please help me reach over 80 to continue my education to receive my master’s degree.
What do you suggest in my case?
First Ismail was suggested to review Michael’s reading section. With Michael’s reading section, Ismail was able to learn effective key reading skills! For example with Michael’s numerous academic speed reading practice tests, Ismail was able to test his ability to read from 100 to 350 words per minute. Because of this and Michael’s exclusive reading lessons, Ismail learned effective reading habits such as: discerning main ideas and details, understanding vocabulary from context, understanding the organization of reading passages including transitions, and having the ability to make inferences.
Second Ismail was suggested to review Michael’s listening section. With Michael’s listening section, Ismail was able to analyze his listening strengths and weaknesses! For example, by learning to catch the main idea and important details of campus-related and academic listening passages with Michael’s exclusive listening lessons, Ismail learned tips and tricks such as: inferencing, idioms, negative expressions, getting the main idea, and understanding transitions. Because of this, Ismail was able to become more effective when writing and giving oral summaries about the different lectures at hand.
Thus as a result of Michael’s course, Ismail successfully received 83/120 on TOEFL iBT with 24/30 in reading and a 25/30 in listening; suffice enough to continue onwards to his master’s degree program. All by the help of the exercises, practice tests, and lesson plans available to Ismail in Michael’s reading and listening sections.
