“Do u think preparing TOEFL is a waste of time cause TOEFL doesn’t require real-life English?”

TOEFLers,

I graded an integrated speaking practice for one of my Online TOEFL Course students, and, like I normally do, I posted my video comments to the student at my You Tube Channel.  A couple of days later, someone posed the following question in the comment box below the video: “Do u think preparing TOEFL is a waste of time cause TOEFL doesn’t require real-life English?”

Getting comments at YouTube is common, but this clever question strikes at the very heart of what I do since I have an Online TOEFL Course to help students get higher scores on the exam.  I thought about the question, and, based on my twenty years of teaching experience, here is my answer to the question:
