Yoshiro joins an Online TOEFL Course to improve his speaking proficiency.

Born and raised in Japan, Yoshiro originally struggled scoring well in the speaking section of the TOEFL iBT Exam. Speaking bad English, he wanted to improve his pronunciation, speaking, and even vocabulary. Deciding to search for a website to help him with his needs, Yoshiro eventually stumbled across and joined Michael Buckhoff’s Online TOEFL Course “The 7-Step System to Pass the TOEFL iBT.” With Michael’s TOEFL Course, Yoshiro has virtually all the exercises and practice tests to help him improve his bad English and succeed in passing the speaking section of the TOEFL iBT.

To begin with, before Yoshiro decided to go and perform exercises randomly. He knew it would be best to approach his areas of difficulty in the best orderly fashion. Deciding that the order of vocabulary, pronunciation, and speaking would be the best way to improve his English, he approached the lessons in this fashion.

First of all, with Michael’s vocabulary section, Yoshiro was provided with lessons, exercises, and practice tests for mastery of 1,700 TOEFL words. Lessons such as Lesson 4: Vocabulary List of 500 Words: A-E tested Yoshiro’s ability to master these words in three ways. Firstly, he was given the task of studying hundreds of words in note cards and writing their definitions on the back in order to help him with the memorization of these words and definitions. Secondly, Yoshiro was given the option of downloading the audio files of these words and practicing them every morning, even uploading his progress to Michael’s Voxopop Discussion Group for an iBT Speaking and Writing Specialist to give him feedback to see if he was pronouncing them correctly. Thirdly, he furthered the mastery of these words by completing vocabulary quizzes which also helped him remember the synonyms, parts of speech, contextual meanings of the words, thereby preparing him for Michael’s pronunciation section of “The 7-Step System to Pass the TOEFL iBT.”

Second of all, in Michael’s pronunciation section, Yoshiro was given numerous practice tests, exercises, and pronunciation drills to improve his ability to say certain vowel and consonants sounds. For example, with Speak Clearly Lesson 3: How to Pronounce Consonant Sounds of American English, Yoshiro was given instructional video of how to annunciate constant sounds with clarity and accuracy. After extensive practice, Yoshiro was steadily perfecting his instruction in stress, intonation, and pausing of certain word phrases. In addition, with feedback provided by Michael himself, Yoshiro eventually began developing excellent pronunciation skills in academic English and paved his success in performing well in the speaking section of Michael’s Online TOEFL Course.

Third of all, with various integrated and independent practice tests, the speaking section of the 7-Step System tested Yoshiro’s ability to speak academic English accurately and fluidly. Having competed numerous skill building exercises and practice tests, Yoshiro was challenged to answer academic questions in English. And, after some time, he improved in these exercises and practices, even getting responses back from iBT Speaking and Writing specialists Michael Buckhoff to help his speaking accuracy and proficiency. In the end, Yoshiro ended up scoring 26/30 on the speaking section of the TOEFL iBT and accomplished his goal of improving his English!

All in all, with Michael’s “The 7-Step System to Pass the TOEFL iBT,” Yoshiro improved his vocabulary, pronunciation, and speaking skills in English. Likewise he accomplished passing the speaking section of the TOEFL Exam.

“I’d like to thank Michael for improving my former bad English with his intensive skill-building exercises and I hope to continue to use his website to further improve in other areas such as writing academically in English.”
