Jocelyn uses an Online TOEFL Course to improve her academic English proficiency.

Short of her goal by 12 points, Jocelyn was required by her University to score at least 80 points on the TOEFL to apply. Having studied her first TOEFL course in the Philippines, Jocelyn needed another solution to pass now that she lived in California. Supported by Michael’s reading section, Jocelyn was able to learn intelligible reading skills with an ability to concentrate. By learning effective reading habits and strategies, Jocelyn learned how to become a proficient reader by: braking down main details within the body, grasping vocabulary from the reading, recognizing the format of reading passages, including transitions, and having the ability to reach a conclusion on the basis of evidence and reasoning.

Supported by Michael’s listening section, Jocelyn was able to learn to catch the main idea and important details of campus-related and academic listening passages. By learning how to take notes and practicing taking notes as you complete 40 + listening practice tests, Jocelyn learned how to use her notes to answer listening comprehension questions. Furthermore, this section taught Jocelyn additional tips and tricks in inference, idioms, negative expressions, getting the main idea, and understanding transitions.

Supported by Michael’s speaking section, Jocelyn was able to learn the speaking skills needed to score high during independent and integrated speaking tasks. By learning proper organization with the right lessons and exercises, Jocelyn built competent speaking skills such as: figuring out the speaking task, developing a coherent response, including a subject statement, conveying excellent details within the core of the speech, and concluding with a proper reasoning.

Lastly, supported by Michael’s writing section, Jocelyn targeted and improved her writing weaknesses by developing the writing skills needed to address the independent and integrated writing tasks coherently and properly. By gaining competence in writing skills such as: interpreting the writing task, writing out a coherent response, writing thorough constructive paragraphs, and concluding with proper proof.

As a result, Jocelyn 82/120 on her next exam!
