I get e-mails almost everyday from students all of over the world, many of whom need quick improvements in their TOEFL scores so that they can enter undergraduate and graduate programs in more than 3,000 universities in the United States. Yesterday, I received a message from a student who had scored 68 on the TOEFL iBT with subtotals of 20, 22, 15, and 11 points in the speaking, listening, reading, and writing sections.
However, the student needs to score higher than 80/120 so that s/he can enter a graduate program in the United States.
Therefore, the student said, “I need to improve this skills very fast. What is your advice to me?”
Turns out that the next test is scheduled two weeks from when the last test was taken, and, if the student doesn’t reach the goal on the next scheduled TOEFL exam, s/he will loose a scholarship to study in the United States.
