German student Burke uses an Online TOEFL Course to score 103.

Burke of Berlin, Germany moved to the United States so he can major in business at University of Virginia Darden School of Business. However needing a minimum TOEFL score of 100, Burke needed to study effectively to eliminate his native German accent. Burke originally scored 84 with (R20, L22, S20, and W22) on the TOEFL iBT, and a year later he scored 90 with (R20, L24, S22, and W24).

With the reading section, Burke first successfully completed the first lesson that taught him how to read academic passages and how to take notes of these passages so he will be able to create organized responses during integrated writing and speaking tasks. Secondly, he engaged in an extensive reading campaign in which he regularly read for about 45 minutes daily and continued to regularly read each day until he read from a computer screen at a speed of 315 words per minute with 80% comprehension!
Soon after Burke completed many speed reading practice tests and learned effective reading habits, discerned main ideas and details, understood vocabulary from context, understood the organization of reading passages including transitions, and improved his ability to make inferences. Building his speaking proficiency in English even more with the reading section, Burke reduced his former thick German accent and felt ready to tackle the speaking section to further improve his English.

With the speaking section of the 7-Step System, Burke got feedback provided by iBT speaking specialists to speak academic English with proper delivery and accuracy. In addition by completing numerous integrated and independent practice tests plus 100′s of skill-building exercises, Burke improved his proficiency in grammatical word endings, word stress, sentence rhythm, intonation, and blending of various phrases. Soon with competent speaking skills like decoding the speaking task, organizing a coherent response including a topic statement, delivering rich details in the body of the speech, and ending with a conclusion, Burke began scoring 26/30 in many exercises within the speaking section and felt a notable difference in his reading and speaking, such that he felt prepared to retake the TOEFL iBT for the third time and improve his previous score.

Taking the TOEFL on his third attempt, Burke scored 103 with (R24, L26, S27, and W26). Burke is now enrolled at the University Of Virginia Darden School Of Business.
